Welcome

Welcome to Civic Heartbeat, NPI's expanding public opinion research initiative that seeks to regularly measure the pulse of communities in the Pacific Northwest, like Seattle and King County, building on NPI's years of successful polling in the public interest.

The initiative's inaugural research instrument is a lengthy, thirty-five question survey of likely general election voters in Seattle.

"Most polling nowadays is strategic and privately held," noted NPI's founder and executive director Andrew Villeneuve. "Our team feels it's extremely important for the public to be able to have access to quality, credible polling that can indicate where people are at on critical issues and how they may be voting in upcoming elections. That's why we're delighted to announce Civic Heartbeat."

"For years, our seasonal statewide polling has helped elected officials, journalists, activists, and the public understand trends and views at the state level. While continuing our periodic statewide research, we're aiming to deliver the same extremely useful insights at regular intervals at the local level, too. With Civic Heartbeat, we're expanding our local polling beyond just the weeks preceding a Top Two or general election. We are extremely grateful to our good friend Carrie Barnes for providing the seed money to get this initiative started, and we're looking forward to working with more people and organizations that share our commitment to public interest polling to bring additional Civic Heartbeat surveys to fruition in the spring."
